Produktbeschreibung
Developing an understanding of the fracture behavior of polymeric materials and composites that could help to prevent catastrophic failures in engineering components was the focus of this book. The effects of different depths of v-notches and hairline cracks on the fracture modes of polyethylene terephthalate injection-moldings were investigated with emphasis on the influence of hierarchical skin-core structure. Different characterization techniques, including mechanical and impact testing, thermal analysis, Scanning electron microscopy observations, birefringence analysis, full width half maximum analysis, linear elastic fracture mechanics, elastic plastic fracture mechanics and essential works of fracture analysis were applied to analyse the fracture behaviors of skin-core structured recycled (R-PET) and virgin poly(ethylene) terephthalate (V-PET) and composites (GFPP). The effects of molecular weight, skin-core structure, annealing of samples, hot water immersion, v-notch, and hairline cracks on the fracture behavior of R-PET, V-PET and GFPP composites were determined to draw a mathematical relationships between the parameters and fracture behavior.
