When Whitey was twelve-years-old, he was a child. When he turned thirteen, he was a man. He experienced several successive incidents that forced the changed. During the late summer, his father died with two other men in a mining accident. The school authorities expelled him from school. A physically stronger, angry, and drunkard of a man entered and overrun his home. The boy fought back to no avail. He moved his mother to safety but lost contact with her. Next, the man injured him brutally around the groin. At the end of all this, he was accused of hospitalizing the interloper, plus the Constable searching for him. Therefore, by his thirteenth birthday, he had to leave home. He lived out of doors the first winter. Going away from the woods on the first day of spring, he soon encountered a widow, living alone. Whitey stayed until the next spring. Shortly after that, he escaped from a sheriff after a three-day chase. Finally, after that, Whitey met a family who accepted him into there. Here he found shelter, food, and a job. He also fell in love. Constant paranoia about the police searching for him hung over his life. One day the sheriff that chased him came into the restaurant Whitey worked at, and he left his ideal home. An injury found him in a hospital, where he met a particular person that guided him to a government program. There he found his second love. His progress caught the attention, and he was moved to another facility to work alone. He had an enemy there, and that person decided he could not leave the facility. During that time he found himself imprisoned and decided his only way of escape would be killing himself. Wanting to return to his adopted family, he devised an ingenious but dangerous plan to escape.
