The present study intends to develop several less researched aspects from the fiction of Edgar Allan Poe. There are two evolution paths, our interest being focused on the American writer s journalism (literary and general) and on his anticipative works (classified as what we call today science fiction or speculative fiction). The two branches can only methodologically separately exist, as a working hypothesis, and our endeavour aligns (thus, more natural and challenging) in the sense of highlighting the mutual influence of the two subjects under debate. The picture will be completed by a short attempt of journalistic geography in the Poe s epical texts, also revealing some descriptions proposed by the postmodernism. In my opinion, there are enough clues in Poe s writing that contributed to the substantiation of postmodernism.
