Orthodontics is about more than just straight teeth. The FACE Philosophy takes a comprehensive approach to create a healthy and functioning dentition. The FACE Book provides a comprehensive overview of the key components of occlusion, including the relationship between the teeth, muscles, and temporomandibular joints. With this knowledge, orthodontists can diagnose and treat occlusal discrepancies effectively, improving not only the function of the masticatory system but also the esthetics and long-term stability of the dentition. Through anecdotes and tried-and-true techniques, Dr. Knight emphasizes the critical connection of how the teeth, lips, and surrounding soft tissues play a vital role in achieving an aesthetically pleasing smile. The insights shared in this book also enable orthodontists to approach treatment from a holistic perspective, considering the airway as an integral part of occlusal and orthodontic management. Dr. Knight addresses the various health issues, including sleep apnea, breathing difficulties, and even cardiovascular problems caused by occlusal and skeletal discrepancies. Lastly, this book highlights the significance of interceptive orthodontic treatment in achieving optimal occlusion, facial aesthetics, and airway enhancement. Early intervention allows orthodontists to identify and address orthodontic problems at their nascent stages, preventing more severe issues from developing. The knowledge and techniques presented in The FACE Book will provide you with information to make better decisions for providing the best care for yourself and your children.
