Shaun Tougher is Senior Lecturer in Ancient History at the University of Cardiff. He specialises in later Roman and Byzantine history. He is the author of the The Reign of Leo VI (886-912) (1997) and Julian the Apostate (2007), and the editor of Eunuchs in Antiquity and Beyond (2002)
