Over the last few years, the research in Business Models and Value Networks has increased in all ranges of the academic community; from Master thesis projects to peer reviewed papers in top academic journals. While these efforts contribute to the academic discussions, conceptualizations, and developments in the field, practice oriented methods are lacking for business models as well as value networks. How can entrepreneurs, consultants, and managers benefit from the concepts of business models and value networks in the real world? Very little academic literature exists on how to best utilize these concepts in a practical business setting. This book, therefore, provides a methodology for the development and alignment of business models and value networks. The methodology is developed through design science research and demonstrated by a case study of a large commercially oriented project in the Netherlands. The Value Network Development approach provides practitioners a structure to develop and align the business models of collaborating organizations and the value networked that comprises these collaborators.
