Autorenporträt
After I'd worked in business for almost twenty years, I decided to give it all up to write a young-adult novel. In retrospect it seems crazy, but it didn't come out of nowhere: People had often told me that I was a great storyteller. I'd entertained colleagues with vivid stories, and they'd appreciated the breaks from the daily grind. When I realized that I enjoyed the storytelling more than the work itself, I decided to take my colleagues' advice and explore storytelling as a new career. With my wife's encouragement, I set out to write a mystery. I wanted to create a concise, action-packed tale that would appeal to established readers as well as those who might be intimidated by too many pages. When I was growing up, I was one of those kids who could easily get distracted while reading. I wanted to write a story that would have kept my interest back then. To get the engaging materials such a story required, I drew on my experiences. My family and I love to go rock climbing, hiking, camping, kayaking, and biking. We also enjoy scavenger hunts in museums or medieval cities. Out of such adventures, The Crystal Prophecy was born. The writing process itself was an incredible journey. I found that creating characters and putting them into crazy situations was fun--and empowering. I have begun a second book in which Kay, AJ, Jack, and Eagle continue their adventures. Once again, the fate of the world will depend on them. Come back soon and find out what happens after The Crystal Prophecy.
