Lyn H. Lofland is Professor Emerita in the Department of Sociology at the University of California, Davis. John Troyer is Director of the Centre for Death and Society and Associate Professor in the Department of Social and Policy Sciences at the University of Bath. He grew up in the American funeral industry. Ara A. Francis is Associate Professor in the Sociology and Anthropology Department at the College of the Holy Cross.
