The author of more than thirty works, Bartholomew of Pisa (Bartholomew Rinonico) is known to history as the author of Conformity. This three volume work, completed in 1399, was vital to the Christian communities that had been touched by the life of St. Francis and it represents the highest point of Medieval glorification of the figure of St. Francis. Many Reformers were highly critical of it and it is therefore an important text for scholars of the Reformation as well as the Medieval period.
