Autorenporträt
Steven C. Brooks is not a professional mechanic or panel beater but he is passionate about car restoration. He asserts that it doesn't have to be a full-scale mega-production, but can be done in a series of modest steps. Steve began (as do we all) as a total novice. Starting with maintenance, he moved on to repairs and further into restoration. Steve learned from his own experience restoring cars on shoestring budgets and by helping backyard masters of the mechanical and body arts. Firmly believing in learning from the mistakes of others rather than having to repeat them, Steve Brooks offers the fruits of his and others' mistakes in this series of books. Steve has also published two booklets showing how to adjust the mechanical brakes on 1930s Ford V8s. "There's no reason why properly adjusted mechanical brakes shouldn't work just as well as the hydraulics that came after them," he says. Steve hopes to bring the contents of other vintage and classic car manuals back from obscurity.
