Located a few miles north from the border of the United States and Mexico, the U.S. Coast Guard has maintained a continual presence in San Diego since 1935. Coast Guard Sector San Diego is comprised of almost 400 men and women who stand ready for duty 24 hours a day and train constantly to develop and hone skills necessary to accomplish their mission safely while proudly carrying on the tradition and heritage of those before them. Their story is told here in many never-before-seen photographs collected from the U.S. Coast Guard archives.
