Carl J. Blackburn is an alumnus of the University of Oklahoma and received a graduate degree from the University of Houston. He has studied the life and works of Aquinas for several years, making several pilgrimages to Italy to visit Landulfo Castle near Aquino where Aquinas was born, the Abbey of Monte Cassino where Thomas began his early schooling, Castel dell'Ova in the Bay of Naples, and the Abbey of Fossanova near Priverno where Aquinas died. He resides in Houston, Texas.
