Auguste Groner wurde am 16. April 1850 in Wien als Auguste Kopalla geboren und starb am 7. März 1929 ebendort. Sie war eine österreichische Feuilletonistin und Schriftstellerin, die auch zahlreiche Kriminalerzählungen und -Romane verfaßte. Viele Ihrer Bücher wurden in Englische und in skandinavische Sprachen übersetzt.
