"Published in 2000, the first edition of The Cambridge Companion to Virginia Woolf declared that its attentions would be directed towards Woolf's "mind: the breadth of her intellectual range; her impulsive flights of creative brilliance, the long labours of composition; her conversations with the present; her arguments with history" (xiii).
