He consequently created Gwadabawa Ribat, which is now envisaging Gwdabawa, Tangaza, Gada, Illela and Gudu local government areas of present Sokoto state. He later ascended the throne in 1915. His period as Caliph/ Sultan was insulated from intervention of Turawa in most of the affairs of Sokoto. Among other achievements, he ensured the modernization of Sokoto by joining many important towns with motorable roads, renovation of mosques, creation of Craft School and spread of spiritual activities. Therein, he constructed roads to connect Sokoto with many towns including, Kebbi, Jega,and Argungu among others. Sarkingobir Abdurrahman ruled Gwadabawa 1931-1968 as heir to MAITURARE.

Yusuf Sarkingobir nasceu em Gwadabawa,Estado de Sokoto,Nigéria para a família do Sultão Atiku 1 na casa de Sarkingobir Muhammad Zayyana(RIP). Obteve a BS.c Bioquímica do UDUS em 2012. Mais tarde, em 2017 obteve o MS.c Saúde Pública da Universidade Americana Maryam Abacha, República do Níger. Actualmente é docente no SSCOE Sokoto.
