Autorenporträt
Matthew C. Rivers was born in Westwood, New Jersey and grew up in a musical family in Poughkeepsie, New York. He attended the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the University of Maryland for degrees in Music, studying under world-renowned musicians Robin Eubanks, Chris Vadala, and Jim McFalls. Mr. Rivers joined the Urbana (Illinois) Police Department in 2008. There, he served as a field training officer, METRO SWAT team operator, detective, and patrol sergeant. Mr. Rivers also coordinated the UPD Honor Guard, the Urbana Police Department History Project, and was involved with the Crime Scene Unit, TASER Program, and Peer Support Program. Mr. Rivers was the first recipient of the UPD Heroism Award in 2012, and was the 2011 Officer of the Year. Now living and working in North Texas, Mr. Rivers enjoys playing, writing, and singing music, theology, training for and running marathons, the Boston Red Sox, being outdoors, and time with his family.
