Zenay Bekele Ben-Yochanan was born in Ethiopia and grew up in Jerusalem, a city rich with holy sites and prophecies, and whose every inch is soaked in history and magic. As a result of being raised by strong, independent women, she always dreamt of powerful female characters, and the ones who stood tallest were the legendary Amazons. Thus began Zenay's whirlwind affair with mythology. Zenay could never find the fierce, brave, unyielding Amazon warriors precisely as she imagined them in the stories of others. So, she did the only thing she could: she put her vision of the Amazons into books of her own.
