The author is a naturalist, watercolorist, accomplished illustrator and has been writing and illustrating children's books since her youth. Ellen writes about the natural world and gardening for multiple publications and is a botanical illustrator. She is an organic farmer and lives on a farm on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State.
