Autorenporträt
The story of Mao was inspired by characters Ellen Hauser created for her daughter's stuffed animals. Hauser grew up in the Chicago area and has lived in China, Uganda, and various parts of the U.S. She currently makes her home in Wisconsin with Mao while her grown-up daughter, Maya, creates adventures of her own.
