No matter wealth of documents that exist about the history of the introduction and spread of Islam in Nigeria, no single book has paid particular attention to Taraba State as an entity for separate focus. The Advent and Spread of Islam in Taraba State, is very peculiar and equally interesting. The book has attempted to give what one could refer to as an in-depth account of the history of the introduction and spread of Islam in Taraba State. It is important to state that three major flash points beamed by the book justify the much credence ascribed to this document. Performing a tripartite function, the book has, firstly, given us summary texts on histories of origin of some selected ethnic groups in Taraba State. Secondly, the book has clearly highlighted the traditional beliefs as religious world systems of each of the groups. Above all, the document has very impressively and comprehensively presented an in-depth account of the history of the introduction and spread of Islam in Taraba State. It went further to state in very clear terms the strategies and roles adopted and played by various Islamic bodies or organizations and individuals in the enterprise. A. E. Ityavkase (PhD)
