The main difference between carving a thanksgiving figure and doing it during a harvest festival is that in the US thanksgiving dinner is a public holiday while in China thanksgiving feasts are private events that are only open to family members and close friends. Thanksgiving festivals have been celebrated in almost every country as a national holiday since the beginning of agriculture. As an indigenous American holiday, thanksgiving was considered sacred by Native Americans and it was celebrated with great joy and happiness. Thanksgiving celebrations grew in popularity in the European countries, and soon after the Industrial Revolution, they became very popular in the US. Today, thanksgiving has come to be a time for many Americans to express their love of family, neighbors, and friends.
