Desiree Calderon de Fawaz crea e ilustra historias sobre ninos en diversos contextos culturales y religiosos. Sus historias transpiran sabiduria ancestral y reflejan valores universales. Nacida en la Ciudad de Mexico, los primeros recuerdos de Desiree son de pinturas, caballetes y poesia; actividades religiosamente inculcadas en el entorno de la misma familia que engendro a filosofos y escritores como Jose Vasconcelos y a pintoras como Frida Kahlo. En el ano de 2015, Desiree realizo un viaje al Libano con el explicito proposito de encontrar el pueblo ideal para su nueva historia, Los Aretes de Tata. Las rusticas ciudades de Saida y Biblos le sirvieron de inspiracion, ya que sus puertas de colores vibrantes y antiguas calles empedradas personificaban, en su opinion, la innegable belleza y la diversidad cultural de esa region mediterranea. Dos anos (y muchos tes) despues, Los Aretes de Tata nacieron con la esperanza de sembrar una pequena semilla de amor, compasion y entendimiento en el momento que mas se necesita. Desiree vive en Houston, Texas, con su esposo y sus tres hijos. Cuando no esta tejiendo ideas para sus nuevas historias, disfruta leer sobre herbolaria, practicar yoga y acurrucarse en el sillon con un buen libro.
