This is a research based work done by Dr.Sulekha.P.B under the supervision of Dr. Rani Joseph. This work aims at preparing polymer-bound antioxidants with saturated backbone, envisaging the preparation of both amine and phenolic type of antioxidants. Characterization of the prepared antioxidants using IR, 1HNMR, VPO and TGA is done. The efficiency of such polymer-bound antioxidants is compared with that of conventional antioxidants in terms of volatility, extractability in solvents, ageing resistance, ozone ageing resistance etc. The study is undertaken with the intention of generating a class…mehr

The study is undertaken with the intention of generating a class of bound antioxidants, which can be used in elastomers for aggressive and long-term application. The effectiveness of these antioxidants in NR, SBR, NBR , IIR and rubber blends like NR/SBR and NR/BR was studied. One of the potential areas where the novel polymer-bound antioxidants can be used is in the rubberization of roads. One of the main disadvantages of using natural rubber in bitumen modification is that it cannot withstand the high temperature during mixing and hence it is susceptible to degradation. Most of the conventional antioxidants are volatile and are not effective in protect
