During the last years, ZnO thin films have been studied extensively due to their potential applications in e.g. piezoelectric and optoelectronic devices or photovoltaic cells. ZnO also used matrix to make diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMSs) by doping some of the transition metals such as Mn, Ni. Particle size and crystal morphology play important roles in these applications, which have driven researchers to focus on the synthesis of nanocrystalline ZnO in recent years. Magnetic semiconductors are the materials which exhibit both ferro magnetic and semiconducting properties simultaneously. These are prepared by introducing magnetic atoms/ions in solid solution into semiconducting host material (ZnO) and the final product shows different magnetic behavior depending on the concentration of magnetic element, synthesis route and experimental conditions. The exploding development of nanotechnology over the last two decades has opened new possibilities in ultra-fast information processing and data storage. As nowadays device fabrication methods approach the ultimate atomic scale, the demand on alternative routes is emerging. This book is useful to P.G. and Ph.D students.
