Dr. Yvonne D. Coates grew up in Washington, D.C. With over forty-five years in the field of education, she has dedicated herself to teaching and mentoring students and adults in the city. Dr. Coates received a Ph.D. in Educational Policy from American University; an M.A. in Education and Human Development from George Washington University; a B.A. in English Education from the University of Maryland. She is currently a University Faculty Supervisor at American University. A member of Peace Baptist Church, she serves on the Board of Trustees and Chairs the Scholarship Committee.
