Rob Hefner and wife Phyllis are Emeritus missionaries to Brazil with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention (1985-2015). Prior to their years in Brazil, Rob was a pastor and staff minister in North Carolina. Rob studied at Gardner-Webb University (B.A. Relig. Studies), and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity). After missionary appointment, they studied Portuguese for a year in Campinas, Brazil. Then Rob, Phyllis and their son Ray continued their mission service in the Amazon Basin city of Marabá. In 1991, they transferred to the northeast of Brazil, where they served in church planting, discipleship and seminary teaching. Among the courses taught were Church Planting, Missiology and Spiritual Warfare, along with many discipleship studies. A vital part of their mission work hinged around extensive prayer walking. Rob is also the author of EVANGELISM AND CHURCH PLANTING and THE CHURCH IN MY HOUSE, A MAUNUAL FOR HOUSE CHURCH PLANTING.
