Pia Guttenson wurde 1974 in Backnang im Rems-Murr-Kreis geboren und wuchs in den Dörfern Hohnweiler und Unterweissach auf. In ihrer Schule, dem Bildungszentrum Weissach im Tal, sah man Pia Guttenson in jeder freien Minute in der Bibliothek. Bücher und Schreiben war ihre große Leidenschaft. Daher ist es eigentlich seltsam, dass Pia Guttenson eine Lehre zur Friseurin machte, gefolgt von einer Ausbildung im Einzelhandel. Jedoch hörte sie nie auf zu schreiben und bis heute liest sie noch immer pro Woche zwei Bücher. Die Romanschriftstellerin bekommt Anregungen für ihre Werke aus ihrem Umfeld. Inspiration erfährt die Autorin aber auch beim Nordic-Walking in den idyllischen Weinbergen der Umgebung, beim Tanzen oder beim Bogenschiessen. Pia Guttenson liebt die keltische Kultur und hat auf Reisen ihr Herz in Schottland verloren. So wird es den Leser nicht überraschen, dass Schottland und die schottische Kultur in allen ihren Büchern eine Rolle spielen, zu ihrem Markenzeichen wurden. Ferner ist Pia Guttenson auf Messen, Lesungen und Veranstaltungen anhand ihrer Tartankleider gut zu erkennen.
