Strawberry is a perennial herb grown in most arable regions of the world.Strawberry fruit is known for its flavour and taste with low calorie carbohydrate and high fibre contents. Strawberry is a perennial herb grown in most arable regions of the world.Strawberry fruit is known for its flavour and taste with low calorie carbohydrate and high fibre contents. Besides this, strawberry flavor is used extensively in the food industry. Tissue culture has been exploited to create genetic variability in strawberry and to select somaclones for desirable characters. Somaclonal variation appears to be an outcome of several factors, but in general it is believed to be an expression of variation either pre-existing in the explant tissue or induced during the process of cell culture in vitro and plant regeneration. Induced mutations with gamma irradiation and chemical mutagenesis is done to regenerate variants which have good morphological and fruit characters in strawberry. Therefore, this research was done and reproduced into book format to gain knowledge about induced mutation in strawberry through gamma rays and its affects on vegetative, flowering and fruiting in strawberry.
