In order to carry out the grinding operation economically, thorough understanding of the grinding and crushing is essential. Hence, the variables effecting the grinding operation need to be studied and established. In batch grinding, the particle size is continuously reduced with time, but minerals of various complexities behave differently. In view of the fact, grinding studies of each mineral is to be studied to predict the product size with other influencing parameters. The present study is contemplated to know the optimum values of the parameters that can influence the comminution of Banded Hematite Quartz ore.The parameters include time of grinding, size of balls, and quantity of feed and feed size. All these variables will have influence on the energy consumption.Further, the experimental data is supplemented with the statistical analysis to arrive at the optimum values of these parameters.
