A brief study was carried out to find out student approaches toward career selection in government school in kpk. For this purpose government high school Dodher district Swabi was examined. All classes from 6th to 10th were interviewed. They were found interested in some common known profession for their future life in this modern era. A sum of 18 various professions were selected by student for their future. The trend in career selection is army 36% teaching 33.1% other 18.1% science oriented 12.5%. In armed forces 74% army, in science 60% doctor, in teaching 57.5% aalim/religious scholar and in others 48.2% student prefer foreign country as their career/professional life. As their elders concern, 14.6% govt employees, 21.5% work in foreign countries which are much less than 42.18% doing other jobs such as farming, carpenter and daily wage work etc. The students take no valuable interest in the career selection process and the counseling method are also a weak zone. The role of teacher in career selection must be activated and motivated to achieve a sound career for the students that cope with the need of this modern world.
