This book describes the research progress of the control design about strict-feedback nonlinear systems. A novel gain control design method is proposed, which greatly simplifies the construction procedure of controller for strict-feedback nonlinear systems. The control design problem of strict-feedback nonlinear systems is converted into the determination problem of gain parameters or the construction of dynamic gain equations. Therefore, the tedious iterative design procedure is effectively avoided. This book can be used as a reference for researchers in the field of control theory and engineers seeking advanced methods in practical control applications.

Xianfu Zhang received his M.S. degree in Mathematics from the School of Mathematics Sciences, Shandong Normal University, China, in 1999, and Ph.D. degree in Operational Research and Control from the School of Mathematics, Shandong University, China, in 2005. He joined the School of Control Science and Engineering, Shandong University, China, in 2012, where he is currently Professor. From September 2008 to February 2009, he was a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Canada. As a Senior Research Assistant, he went to the City University of Hong Kong for short-term research six times from November 2009 to August 2016.  His main research interests include nonlinear systems, large-scale systems, multi-agent systems, and time-delay systems. He received the Natural Science Prize of Shandong Province in 2017, and the Science and Technology Award of Chinese Association of Automation in 2022.He was recognized as the Taishan Scholar Distinguished Professor of Shandong Province in 2019.
Rezensionen
"Strict-feedback nonlinear systems remain general enough to cover a wide class of dynamical systems in practical control applications. ... This book is devoted to presenting a systematic description of recent progress in stability and control of strict-feedback nonlinear systems, mainly within the gain control design framework. ... the book may be helpful for some researchers who want to begin the research of strict-feedback nonlinear systems." (Han Sheng Wu, Mathematical Reviews, December, 2023)
"This book is of great interest to researchers in the fields of control theory and applied mathematics, as well as the engineers who search for advanced methodologies for practical control applications." (Mihail Voicu, zbMATH 1519.93004, 2023)
