Jake's story is two-fold. It tells the story of a kitten who lost his new "forever" home the day after he got it - but got his new, really forever home the next day. The story is first meant as entertainment for children. Secondly, it is a reminder for those who get kittens or puppies to make sure it is permissible to have them. In Jake's case, "Patty" had a landlord who said a very resounding "NO cats!" But Miss Maggie's landlord said yes. Far too many babies are dumped or taken to shelters by those who get them, only to discover that they can't keep them. The story tells how he got his final home, his kitty companion, Mini, and his innumerable antics, like learning to play fetch , and following directions in a way that shows him to be smarter than the average cat.

Autorenporträt

Martha Williams was born and raised in New Berlin, a very small town in upstate New York. Her first sight of the redwoods and the Pacific was all it took to make her home in Crescent City, California, in love with both the country and the people. A great-grandmother, reading to kids is a fact of life, but writing for them, new. Although told both in high school and college she should write, most of her life, "writing" consisted of nurses notes and care plans. Now retired, she writes for the local newspaper, and plans to write a novel.
