Denise Mina, geboren 1966 in Glasgow, studierte Jura und spezialisierte sich auf den Umgang mit psychisch gestörten Straftätern. 1998 erschien ihr erster Roman. Für ihr Werk wurde sie mit dem Dagger Award und dem Barry Award ausgezeichnet. 2007 wurde sie für den Edgar Award nominiert.
