This is the whole story of a part of my life, a part of my life when I was grown up and had to face the world with the liability of having just one functional eye and that one eye not up to the standard of most people. It is how I found work, learned to cook and train and work with animals; how I adjusted to living with women, driving a car and the life I lived to old age. The story goes from my first love, initiated by a girl already pregnant, to me finding a solution to her problem, marrying her and starting a dog business with her. When she died at age thirty-three, how I went through a series of women and affairs; two more I married and divorced. I was obviously not in a stable mind for a while but I kept on trying. I also kept writing of my life and my mistakes. While hiking in the woods, I met Leona, I also went to university at seventy years old and got a B.A. at seventy -six. Leona was a widow and saw something in me that others missed. She turned my life around and as we went through various ailments; we supported each other; we moved in together. She is a treasure that drives me around the country and to appointments; she holds my hand when we cross the street, puts drops in my eye, and aids in my ears, cooks for me and shops for me while I am staying alive in my nineties. We have weathered her hospital stays, my bout with bladder cancer and carpel tunnel and needles in my eye for Macular degeneration. We are still living together, nearly twenty years later.
