In recent years, floriculture is becoming increasingly popular as a commercial enterprise on account of considerable potential for export. Tuberose can be grown on a wide range of soil and climatic conditions even in saline and alkaline conditions. The size of bulb plays an important role on growth and flowering of tuberose. The optimum plant density plays a major role in deciding vegetative growth, flower yield and multiplication of bulbs/bulblets. Normally, crop is retained for 2-3 years in the field, but higher flower yield is obtained in first ratoon crop. Tuberose is generally planted in February-March in the plains and in April-May in the hills. But this needs further confirmation under the prevailing climatic and edaphic conditions of South Saurashtra region of Gujarat state. The planting of standard bulb size at an appropriate spacing and depth of planting would help not only in increasing production but also in proper utilization of land and other resources. Hence, it isworthwhile to standardize some agrotechniques in tuberose cv. Double for profitable cultivation under Saurashtra conditions of Gujarat.
