John Booth is a former shellfish research scientist with New Zealand's National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research in Wellington, where he specialized in spiny lobsters. He supports local biodiversity-recovery projects in Northland, has written accounts on various topics of natural history, and has contributed to local and international science journals as well as several books on spiny lobster fisheries, management, and biology.
