The present works related with the structural studies of some representative coal samples from various collieries of Makum coalfield, Assam with the help of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transformation Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and chemical analysis. Laser induced fluorescence (LIF) study on the coals was also included. A comparative study on the structural properties of coal samples from different locations (collieries) was discussed in this work. The results obtained from this investigation will help in gaining an insight in to the structure of these coals for better understanding the potential problems for their industrial utilization. The book consists of five chapters.
