However, people with disabilities in Vietnam and Korea still experience the difficulties and need further support.This paper looks and compares the welfare initiatives in Vietnam and South Korea on supporting the people with disabilities in order to articulate some of implicit values of welfare practices for people with disabilities in these contexts and to make the experiences to each other.

Dr. Tran Van Kham is currently working as the executive editor of the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanitiesand as deputy director of Office for Research Affairs, VNU-University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi. He earned hisPhD in Social Work and Social Policy from the University of South Australia in 2012 and spenta year as a postdoctoral fellow atSeoul National University in 2014. His main research interest and publications are related to social inclusion, social constructionism, migrations, public intellectuals, youth studies, and disability in Vietnam. He also serves as the international editor of the International Social Work Journal and the ASEAN Social Work Journal.
