The main objective of the project is to design and deploy an intelligent microgrid by developing and demonstrating advanced services for its management in the African context. The proposed microgrid integrates renewable energy production and energy uses for thermal energy and domestic hot water production in homes, energy storage technologies, smart street lighting and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. The services offered for the microgrid cover the management of demand, production and flexibility to ensure the maximization of the use of renewable energy. The designed micro-grid will be deployed in the Smart Campus of the Green and Smart Building park and will consist of approximately 6 to 8 maisonettes (Living Labs), a set of 7 kW charging stations for electric vehicles and an outdoor lighting system.
