Author BioDr. James A. Huston, professor of history at Purdue University, received A.B. and A.M. degrees from Indiana University, and the Ph.D. from New York University. He has done graduate work at Oxford University and at the University of Fribourg. He has been the Ernest J. King, Professor of Maritime History at the Naval War College and a NATO Fellow. In the summer of 195 Dr. Huston was Director for the National Defense Education Act History Institute held at Purdue University. For the academic year 1966-67 he was a member of the faculty at the National War College, Washington, D.C.Dr. Huston served with the 134th Infantry in the European Theater of Operations during World War II as a rifle battalion operations officer and is now a colonel of Infantry in the Active Reserve. He is the author of Combat History of the 134th Infantry, Biography of a Battalion, and Across the Face of France, as well as numerous articles on military and international affairs."
