"Swimming, singing and blowing bubbles--baby whale calves and young human children share so many of the same activities! This lyrical picture book compares the relationship of a young child and mother with that of a whale calf and its mother, showing how the lives of the whales can be so touchingly like our own. Patterned in a call-and-response format, where the mother observes and the child responds, the text begs to be read aloud. Safe at night in mother's arms, the child drifts and dreams of the wondrous whales. Beautifully written by acclaimed children's book author Beryl Young and illustrated by debut talent Sakika Kikuchi, readers will be left dreaming of the marvelous world they too share with the whales. Facts are woven into poetic text so even the youngest children will be drawn into the life and world of the amazing Humpback whales."--
