This book describes some of the new ideas involved in the pathogenesis and management of septic shock and the adult respiratory distress syndrome. Special emphasis has been placed where-ever possible upon practical aspects of management of the critically ill leading towards some general guidelines for the appropriate cardiovasuclar and respiratory support of such patients.
