One major problem related to construction on peat deposite is the low shear strength of the soil. Some improvement methods have been developed to increase the bearing capacity of the peat deposit by utilizing consolidation pressure. The shear strength of the samples was obtained by triaxial compression test under unconsolidated undrained condition. Vivi Anggraini is a senior lecturer in Civil Engineering. She obtained her bachelor in Universitas Andalas, her master degree in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and currently she is Ph.D candidate in Universiti Putra Malaysia. Her areas of specialization include site investigations : soil testing, soil stabilization,and soil structure interaction.
