His own grandmother, whom he loved very much, knew the hardships that he had to deal with, and for some reason could not step in and helps him out of it. He tells of running away from home, getting into fights at school, being put in the place of a man and forced to do work many men do not even do. Eventually, his life, leading to his having to stand up for his sister who finally returns home from her own bout of child abuse from a woman that had adopted her from their mother. The hardships only made him stronger, and he thanks God that he is still alive to tell the story.
