After sixteen years as a reporter with the Daily Express, Michael Evans moved to The Times in 1986, where he became Defence Correspondent and then Defence Editor. He developed a reputation for having some of the best contacts in the defence, military and intelligence world. He covered six wars in the field including Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. From 2010 to 2013, he was The Times' first Pentagon Correspondent based in Washington DC. Back in London, he still writes extensively on defence and intelligence issues for The Times. The author of four fiction books, one of them for children, and four non-fiction, including a memoir, First With the News, he is married with three sons and writes a daily blog on world issues called michaelevansbook.blogspot.com and also tweets every day, @MikeEvansTimes
