Retired from the pastorate at Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest, Illinois, he spends half of each year teaching Lutheran seminarians in Bratislava, Slovakia, and working as a pastoral counselor with the nonprofit organization Opportunity International in Russia and the Balkans.
