The book aimed to investigate and compare the performance of CI users in both the listening conditions (quiet and noise). As children are exposed to different listening environments during their day and these environments consist of different types of noise, testing in noise gives a more realistic picture of the child's speech perception in everyday situations. In children with hearing impairment, speech perception abilities are affected and differ from those of adults. Mostly studies have focused on testing speech perception in children using minimal pairs; multisyllabic words and also sentences. But, mainly these studies are done in quiet and very few studies have reported sentence perception in presence of noise. This study will help readers to understand how children with hearing impairment perceive speech in quiet conditions as well as in presence of noise, as in this study performance in quiet and noise is compared for each child.
