However with the Lisbon Treaty the post of High Representative was merged with the External Relations Commissioners and separated from the Secretary-General of the Council, and at the meeting of the European Council of 19 November 2009 Pierre de Boissieu was appointed as the new secretary-general. On 26 June 2011, Uwe Corsepius took over from Pierre de Boissieu as the new secretary-general. The Council appointed Uwe Corsepius on 22 December 2009 for the period from 26 June 2011 to 30 June 2015.
