The Sea buckthorn seed powder was used against the oxidative stress produced by thermally oxidized sunflower oil in subject organism. Blood biochemistry, hematology and liver pathology were investigated. The results showed that Oxidized Oil (OO) produce changes in the blood biochemistry and hematology and alterations in the liver. However, the toxicity of OO was minimized when SBT seed powder were applied. A significant decrease in the serum cholesterol, LDL-c, ALT (alanine aminotransferase) and TG values were reported, however it increases serum glucose and HDL-c values. Histopathological…mehr

Histopathological investigation of the liver reveals that OO intake causes severe adverse changes, whereas SBT seed powder was found to restore the normal condition. It was concluded that SBT seed powder has strong potential to reduce the toxicity of oxidized lipids in model animals.
