Robert Falcon Scott (1868-1912)
Zweimal unternimmt der britische Marineoffizier eine Expedition zum Südpol. Die erste scheitert an der mangelhaften Vorbereitung auf das Überleben unter antarktischen Bedingungen und muss vorzeitig abgebrochen werden. Bei der zweiten erreicht er zwar den Südpol, kehrt aber nicht lebend nach England zurück. Erst acht Monate nach seinem Tod wird Scotts Leiche gefunden zusammen mit seinem Tagebuch, einem wissenschaftlichen und menschlichen Zeugnis von Rang, mit dem er auf tragische Weise in die Geschichte eingeht.
